The value and cost of diamonds are determined by a large number of factors including the 4Cs (cut, color, clarity, and carat), certification, and other quality parameters. Therefore, it is important for you to be aware of them before getting these stones. The following are some of the important factors that can affect the price of your diamonds:

Cut

This is a significant attribute among the 4Cs of diamonds. You should give first priority to the cut grade of your diamond if you want a symmetrical, well-polished, and brilliant stone. The precision of the cut is extremely important for the diamond to refract and reflect light. Hence, if the cut of your stone is not proper, it can reduce the brilliance and shine of diamonds. Therefore, it is better to go for diamonds with an “Excellent” cut grade to ensure that they can showcase great shine and sparkle.

Color

Gemological labs like the GIA grades the color of a diamond on a scale that ranges from D-Z. Diamonds with no visible tints are given the grade D on a GIA grading report, whereas, stones with a very noticeable tint will be assigned the grade Z. The higher the grade, the more colorless your diamond can be. Stones that fall within the range D-F are perfectly colorless and they are very costly. But you don’t have to spend a huge amount on these stones unless you want a perfectly colorless stone, as diamonds with grades G-I are also nearly colorless and the presence of color in them won’t be visible with naked eyes. These stones can also be slightly affordable than D-F diamonds.

Clarity

As the clarity of your diamond increase, its price can exponentially increase. Diamonds with no visible blemishes and inclusions will have the highest clarity grades. The value and price of diamonds can decrease based on the increase in the visibility of flaws.

Carat

Make sure to check the GIA certification to find out the precise carat weight of diamonds. It is important to know the exact carat weight, as it can have a great impact on the cost of your stones. The price of diamonds can significantly elevate based on the increase in their carat weight.

Shape

The cost of diamonds can also vary based on their shape. Round diamonds are the costliest option among all the diamond shapes. Other fancy-cut diamonds including princess, cushion, pear, oval, etc. are more affordable than round diamonds.
